Back in time when a guy called Abel was young he used to be wild and free. He was in twenties at times moment in time and he had started his first contractual job in the Accounts field. One of his former workmate and also his friend by the name John Mwangi also joined the same company as Abel. The later got posted in two different government parastatals close to each other.
John Mwangi was the wild one unlike Abel. His loved going out, parties, women and life. Abel was more of a nerd. He was more chilled and laid back individual with and his ideal activities involved Kayaking, Swimming, camping and anything related to nature activities. Since they were close friends they used to go out together. Abel felt it was a way of watching over his friend because his friend was wild, stubborn and when drunk he used to pursue any lady.
On most weekends, basically Friday and Saturday Abel and John were always sported together. They could either be at the park, shopping or in various clubs just chilling. Once when Abel was not around and John was left by himself, he managed to get himself arrested by city council officers in the Central Business District. So Abel felt it was his responsibility to watch his friend and always make sure his safe and gone home.
Most of the places the two guys used to frequent the were well known by the people who either worked there or were regular guest there. One Friday weekend, the city ( Kampala City ) was popping as usual after working hours. Abel was not feeling good on this day, all he wanted to do was to go home and
sleep but john was hipped up really to enjoy his weekend. He decided to make sure he had dropped him at one of the clubs they used to visit and he left him there alone n safe.
The next day was on a Saturday, a working day and Abel arrived at work, but John was not anywhere to be seen. Abel tried to call his friend to confirm if he was okay but his phone never when through. Abel did his work from 8pm – 2pm but still John’s phone was still offline. Abel didn’t have any next of keen related to John that he could call. When the time to leave work reached, he just went home. Around 4pm in the evening, his phone is calling, and he could see it was john who was calling him. He picked up pleased because at least he was safe and here is the story about why he didn’t report to work.
This is how the story went. Immediately Abel left John at the night club it seems some guys who were sitting next to his table started causing drama with him. John knew he was alone and so he could not confront these guys, they will definitely jump on him and injure him. He was also drunk at this time, so he knew he did not have any advantage. But the guys kept abusing him and he replied but in a way that they would feel like he was a coward. At this time, its around 10pm at night and along that street there are
a few people apart from the guys outside the clubs that were operating outside that club. The bartender tried calming the situation, but the guys kept causing more drama, so the bartender left them. John felt un easy was timing when the look away so he could sneak out without them knowing, This is cause he knew they would follow him outside.
All of a sudden, one of the regular clients who used to frequent the place and Knew both John and Abel drove in. He was always in black pants and black leather Jacket for the cold, with a black helmet. Most of the time he never removed the helmet of his head, this was because he was doing deliver. All the time he was there was to purchase and deliver alcohol to clients who didn’t want to come there physically. We had interacted a couple off the times because we were frequent clients, used to sit next to the counter and alcohol makes you talkative. But we did not know each other by names but my sight and dress code.
His presence at that time did not make John Mwangi feel safe at all. It was not like we were close buddies, and he was there to rescue him.
When the motorbike saw what was happening, he tried to tell these guys to chill, and John is a regular and if everything happened to him they would pay. This made these guys ferocious and now they wanted to be physical. The motorbike guy took out a gun from under his coat and pointed at one of the guys’ faces. In that few second peace and quite prevailed and nobody was talking. This was unexpected and nobody who ever interacted with the motorbike ever knew he was packed that way.
He asked the guys to show him how brave they are, but nobody spoke. He hides his gun again under his jacket and took the drink he had bought and left. Immediately John Mwangi stood up and walked outside the premises. He did not want to be there he did not want people around him to associate him with the guy on the motorbike. He again knew after a while these guys might jump on him after they notice the Motorbike guy had left. Remember he was drunk but that scare made alcohol disappear from his system.
He said immediately he reached home he switched off his phone and prayed at thanked God that he was still alive. Nothing good ever happens in clubs at night when people are drunk and misbehave. From that day John Mwangi and Abel have never went to that specific night club nor seen the motorbike guy.
