The Road Trip: Frejus to Monaco

Our journey begun in Frejus, a charming town on the French Riviera known for its Roman history and laid-back vibe. This is where we were staying for the first 5 days of our holiday in France. As you leave Frejus and head east toward Monaco, prepare yourself for an incredibly scenic drive. The road trip along the Mediterranean coastline is nothing short of breathtaking, with the glittering blue sea on one side and the rugged cliffs on the other.

No trip to Monaco is complete without a visit to the Musee Océanographique de Monaco, one of the world’s most prestigious oceanographic museums. Perched dramatically on a cliffside overlooking the Mediterranean, the museum itself is a sight to behold. Founded in 1910 by Prince Albert I, this museum is a haven for marine biology enthusiasts and curious travelers alike.

Inside the Musee Océanographique, you’ll find over 6,000 specimens of marine life. The aquarium houses everything from colorful tropical fish to impressive sharks and sea turtles. One of the museum’s standout features is its Lagoon Shark Aquarium, where you can observe various species of sharks up close in a stunning coral reef setting.

In addition to the aquariums, the museum boasts numerous exhibits on ocean exploration, marine life conservation, and even an extensive collection of sea-related artifacts. There’s also a special exhibition dedicated to Prince Albert I, known as the “Explorer Prince,” who was a pioneering figure in oceanography. The museum’s rooftop terrace offers an incredible panoramic view of Monaco and the Mediterranean, making it the perfect spot to relax and take in the stunning scenery after exploring the exhibits.
