This was used widely a couple of years ago before the invention of combine harvesters. Moynalty Steam threshing gives us the experience of what our forefathers used back in the day. Of course expect to see a lot of steam and smoke. So put on your suspenders and grab your straw hat because today we delve into the world of steam threshing, a blast from the past.

Being my first time attending such an event, I was totally blown away, and not just by the smoke but by the whole setting including the music.

There were vintage cars and tractors everywhere on display. Every now and again announcements could be heard which we found some were quite hilarious. Attendance was very good. There were animals including dogs, sheep, birds. There was so much entertainment for both adults and children. Our kids enjoyed themselves so much they did not want to leave the place.

Facts about Moynalty steam threshing

Is parking available on site: Yes there is free parking not very far from the site. It is a large field designated as parking area. When we went last year, we parked in the field and walked for about 7 minutes to the venue.

Is entry free: There is no free admissions. You need to purchase a ticket at € 20.00 per adult. Can be purchased on site. However if you have a vintage car or tractor more than 30 years old you get free entry.

Are there toilets on site: Yes there are.

More facts

Is it wheelchair accessible. Yes i would say so as we brought a stroller for the kids and had no difficulty maneuvering. Many other families with strollers around.

Can I use bank card at the event: Unfortunately no bank cards accepted but there is a mobile ATM machine on site. Just bring cash with you.

Is it a worthwhile experience: Definitely worth visiting by all means.
